Most of his songs have a sustained note in it. One of my favorite songs from Edwin McCain is “Take Me” also from the Misguided Roses album.

You can’t rate Donna Summer’s voice based on this song. She was holding back vocally to infuse the song with a cold futuristic effect. Go listen to her singing live. “I feel love” is not supposed to move you emotionally. It was a showcase for Giorgio Moroder’s emerging electronic sound which because the basis of all electronic songs that followed after this ground breaker was released.

The live version they captured for the Running on Empty album was even a little bit more on point than this version. That whole album is definitely worth a listen. Saturated the airwaves the year it came out.
